An early morning fire at a University of Southern California-owned apartment building near University Village displaced 75 students Friday and resulted in about $475,000 in damage, Los Angeles fire officials said.
At least 85 firefighters battled the 2 a.m. blaze in the 3000 block of Royal Street, city Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said.
No injuries were reported.
An electrical problem in the lights or a fan in a bathroom was believed to have caused the fire, which damaged a wing of the structure, Collis said.
