Chapman Falls to the College of St. Benedict

Chapman’s stay in the NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament was a short one.
The Panthers lost, 97-59, to the College of St. Benedict in a first-round game Wednesday night at St. Joseph, Minn.
The Panthers (19-7) fell behind early, as the Blazers took a 9-4 lead when Heidi Schwichtenberg, who finished with 15 points, made a three-point shot with 16 minutes 26 seconds left in the first half. The Blazers led at halftime, 50-30.
The second half was more of the same with the Panthers being outscored, 47-29.
Lindsay Brown and Lindsey Foss each scored 16 points for Chapman, making its first trip to the Division III tournament.
Laura Wendorff led St. Benedict with 20 points and nine rebounds.
