Roundabout

Villeroy & Boch has come full circle with its latest collection of art glass created by the newest family member to join the dinnerware company.

The limited-edition line of decorative bowls, platters and vases were designed by Oliver von Boch, who joined the family business about a year ago.

Von Boch, 28, the first of the ninth generation of Bochs in the company, designed his pieces to have a feel in color and shape of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Made of recycled materials, the fused glass takes on a contemporary aesthetic during the molding process.

There are four motifs to the art glass collection--Concentric, Floating Dot, Bull’s Eye and Avalanche.

Concentric is a pattern of white circles that increase in size from the center of each piece to the edge. Floating Dot is the Concentric motif in black. The design is available on 9-, 11- and 15-inch bowls and 12- and 15-inch platters.

Bull’s Eye, which has translucent colors--green, amber, red and blue--is a centered disc of color framed by two arcs. Avalanche uses narrow strips of white to diagonally intersect the color and round shape of the bowl or platter.

Prices range from $35 for the smaller bowls to $250 for the vase. All are available at Villeroy & Boch at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa.
