King update--The Kings rallied to get a 3-3 tie at Detroit on Tuesday to stretch their unbeaten streak to four games and end a six-game road losing streak. In the second game of back-to-back sets, the Kings are 0-6-1 this season, but they have outscored the Maple Leafs, 9-3, in two games this season. In October, Ray Ferraro scored two goals in a 5-2 win at Toronto, and Eddie Olczyk and Kevin Stevens each had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win at the Forum two weeks later. Goalie Byron Dafoe won both games and is expected to start tonight.
Maple Leaf update--After winning four of five games, the Maple Leafs have lost five in a row, including a 6-3 loss at Washington on Monday. Forward Mats Sundin is having a solid season with 27 goals and 58 points. Defenseman Larry Murphy has 24 assists. The Maple Leafs’ biggest problem has been their defense, which has given up a Western Conference-high 159 goals in 44 games.
