Are You Ready for the L.A. Patriots?

New England Patriot owner Bob Kraft has long lobbied for a new stadium at a site about a mile from downtown Boston, and he is willing to pay for it if the state will build the roads to get there.
He has run into interference from South Boston politicians, but he has support on the state level.
“It’s getting to be show time here,” Gov. William Weld said. “We have the AFC championship being played in Massachusetts this coming Sunday, and what’s the host city? The host city is Providence, R.I.
”. . . If we don’t get our act together for the [South Boston] site, I fear you’re not going to be talking Providence, R.I., you’re going to be talking Los Angeles. . . . I just think that’s the real world.”

Who are the Jacksonville Jaguars?
They had only one player voted to the Pro Bowl--wide receiver Keenan McCardell--and he is going as a reserve. And their middle linebacker, Tom McManus, was tending bar in Chicago two years ago.
Now he plays for Tom Coughlin, who also coached him at Boston College and who awarded him a game ball after he knocked down two passes and had five tackles in the 30-27 victory over Denver that put the Jaguars in the AFC title game.
“All he does is play,” Coughlin said. “He works hard and he’s real smart. He’s certainly not foreign to contact.”
