The region’s two Division I men’s basketball...

The region’s two Division I men’s basketball teams play tonight at 7, when Cal State Northridge meets Pepperdine at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.

Both teams have first-year coaches who have endured tough starts. Bobby Braswell and the Matadors are 1-5. Lorenzo Romar and the Waves are 1-6.

Pepperdine has beaten a Division I team, UC Santa Barbara. Northridge’s only victory is over Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills.
