WESTMINSTER — A landlord was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of shooting his 34-year-old tenant in the abdomen, investigators said.
Jose Arenado of Westminster and Charles Pike, 71, were arguing about 2 p.m. when the fight became physical and Pike “pulled out a gun from a vehicle” and shot Arenado, Police Det. Terry Selinske said. Police found Arenado on the ground in front of his home in the 7200 block of 21st Street, Selinske said.
He was in serious condition Tuesday night after undergoing surgery at UCI Medical Center, investigators said.
“We’re not sure what the dispute was about, but we think it might involve landlord-tenants rights,” Selinske said.
