Upset Winner Earns Date With Matadors

Tami Burchard had 20 kills and Jenny Treglown added 17 to lead sixth-seeded Northern Arizona over third-seeded Eastern Washington, 15-13, 1-15, 15-3, 15-13, Thursday night in the first round of the Big Sky Conference women’s volleyball tournament at Cal State Northridge.
Top-seeded Northridge (20-10) will play Northern Arizona (14-16) in the semifinals at 7 tonight. Montana beat Montana State, 15-7, 15-7, 7-15, 8-15, 15-13, in the second match on Thursday.
Cross-country
Nordhoff High’s Terrah Chapin, the sixth-place finisher in the State Division III cross-country championships last year, has signed with Syracuse.
Chapin said she chose the Big East Conference school because of its nice blend of academics and athletics.
