Boy Hit by Car Suffers Major Head Injuries

SANTA PAULA — An 8-year-old boy was hospitalized with major head injuries after being hit by a car Friday afternoon near Santa Paula, authorities said.
At about 4 p.m. the boy, whom authorities did not identify because he is a juvenile, was hit while in the intersection of Ferris Drive and East Telegraph Road, east of Santa Paula, authorities said. In addition to the head injury, he had a ruptured spleen, broken leg and broken arm, according to paramedics.
The youth was taken by ambulance to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, where he underwent abdominal surgery, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Because of the head injury he was taken by ambulance from Santa Paula to the Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura at about 8 p.m., authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the incident Friday night. No arrests had been made by late evening, authorities said.
