Tuesday, Orange County voters will decide the fate of 23 local measures. A quick look at the issues and the areas affected:
Countywide
A: Limits Orange County Board of supervisors to two consecutive four-year terms.
Anaheim
B: Retains city’s 2% transient occupancy tax, which is a levy on hotel and motel rooms.
C: Eliminates requirement for full reading of emergency ordinances at City Council meetings.
D: Permits publication of city ordinance summaries as alternative to publishing full text.
Buena Park
E: Establishes term limits for City Council members.
Costa Mesa
F: Limits City Council members to two consecutive four-year terms.
Cypress
G: Allows city to issue $10 million in general obligation bonds to construct and upgrade storm drains.
Dana Point
H: Limits City Council members to two consecutive terms.
Garden Grove
I: Reduces business license tax by 15%.
Huntington Beach
J: Advises city to build a sports field on an undeveloped portion of Huntington Central Park, install athletic field lighting at local high schools, create public gymnasium at Murdy Community Center and fund youth sports field grants by establishing a 10-year citywide assessment district for $11.5 million; maximum annual cost of $24 for single-family homes, $10 for multifamily units and $5 for businesses and mobile homes.
K: Allows city to build gymnasium, reconfigure parking and make related improvements at Murdy Community Center at a cost of $1.83 million.
L: Allows city to build lighted soccer and softball fields, roller hockey rink, snack bar, parking lots and bathrooms and make related improvements in undeveloped portion of Huntington Central Park at a cost of $1.5 million.
Irvine
M: Increases individual contribution limit to city candidates
to $300.
Laguna Niguel
N: LimitsCity Council members to two consecutive terms.
La Palma
O: Limits City Council members to two consecutive terms.
Los Alamitos
P: Repeals annual 5% business license tax increase and adopts annual consumer price index adjustment to business license tax.
Newport Beach
Q: Will prohibit businesses from getting free refuse collection.
Orange
R: Limits City Council members to two consecutive
four-year terms.
Yorba Linda
S: Makes ineligible for City Council anyone who has served three full terms.
T: Limits City Council members to two consecutive terms
of office unless individual has been out of office at least two years.
Rossmoor Community Services District
U: Expands powers of Rossmoor Community Services District to repair, maintain and/or replace Rossmoor red brick wall adjacent to Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Boulevard subject to adoption of Measure V by majority vote.
V: Imposes special annual $24 tax on property within district to pay for maintenance, repair and/or replacement of Rossmoor red brick wall adjacent to Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Boulevard subject to the adoption of Measure U by majority vote.
Placentia Library District
W: Levies special per-parcel tax annually for five years to fund libraries because of a shift in local property taxes.
