Councilman Ronald Bates has been chosen president-elect of the League of California Cities.
The statewide organization’s board of directors elected Bates to the position at its recent annual conference in Anaheim. He was sworn into office by Gov. Pete Wilson.
Bates, who has served on the Los Alamitos City Council since 1988, is seeking a third term in the Nov. 5 election. The league, based in Sacramento, lobbies the Legislature on behalf of California’s 470 cities.
