Woman Killed After Car Hits Utility Pole

A woman was killed and a man was injured Thursday after the car they were riding in crashed into a utility pole, Los Angeles police said.
Details about the accident, including the identity of the victims, were not available late Thursday, said Sgt. Fred Meck of the LAPD Valley Traffic Division.
The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of Tobias Avenue near Nordhoff Street, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Rescuers pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The man was taken to Mission Community Hospital in Van Nuys.
