Dog Ban in ‘Tot Lots’ Set for Final Vote
The City Council will decide Tuesday whether to give final approval to an ordinance that bans dogs from “tot lots” with playground equipment.
The ordinance, which council members tentatively approved last week, is designed to address complaints from some residents about dogs defecating near playground equipment and frightening young children.
The ban applies only to the portions of parks that contain slides, swings and jungle gyms. Baseball diamonds, athletic fields and other open spaces are not covered by the ordinance.
The council unanimously approved the draft law, which has generated little opposition.
