After dropping out for two years, the City Council has decided to rejoin the Southern California Assn. of Governments.
After hearing a strong plea from City Manager Daniel E. Keen, council members voted unanimously to rejoin the group, known as SCAG.
Keen said La Palma would be “in a position to have more to say” about various state and federal funds that come to Southern California if the city rejoined the association.
He also said that La Palma might be able to get a representative appointed to a vacancy on SCAG’s regional council.
“This seat is currently open, and if filled by a City of La Palma council member, [it] would give La Palma a greater voice in regional issues,” Keen said.
