Police are investigating the death of a Sylmar man who was shot Thursday while driving in San Fernando.
Michael Ryan Johnson, 25, was driving near the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Maclay Avenue about 8 p.m. Thursday when shots were fired at his car, police said. Johnson’s black Ford Mustang then careened off the road and slammed into a building.
Johnson was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Medical Center, according to San Fernando Police Officer Chris Colelli.
Witnesses reported hearing gun shots in the area and told police that other cars may have been involved, Colelli said. Johnson does not appear to have been a gang member, he said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call San Fernando Det. Lance Steaman at (818) 898-1256 or Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sabino Muniz at (213) 890-5500.
