The Wet Seal Inc.: The women’s apparel retailer reported a profit of $722,000, or 6 cents a share, for the first quarter ended May 4, contrasted with a net loss of $671,000, or 5 cents a share, for the comparable quarter a year ago. Sales rose to $80.6 million from $30 million. The 1996 first quarter includes sales for the Contempo Casuals stores, which were under different ownership a year ago.
