MetroStars Get First Win in Shootout

Ruben Dario Hernandez and Tab Ramos scored shootout goals as the host New York/New Jersey MetroStars rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Tampa Bay Mutiny, 4-3, Saturday.
Goalie Zach Thornton had to make only one save in the five-shot shootout as the MetroStars (1-3) got their first victory of the season by winning the shootout, 2-1.
Tampa Bay took a 3-0 lead early in the second half but scored into its own net to ignite a three-goal burst by New York/New Jersey.
San Jose 2, New England 1--Eric Wynalda and Paul Bravo scored goals to give the Clash the win in front of 16,334 at Foxboro, Mass.
Wynalda put the Clash (2-3) on the board in the 23rd minute with a shot to the far post after being set up by Bravo. Bravo’s tally came in the 70th minute on an assist from Victor Mella.
