Update / Follow-up on the news : Water District OKs Plan to Show Fossils

A Costa Mesa planning firm’s offer to create a display for fossils unearthed during construction of Mesa Consolidated Water District’s new reservoir has been accepted.
The water district’s trustees had said earlier that, though they would like to hire a paleontologist to arrange the displays and write a narrative about the specimens, doing so would be too costly.
A solution came from Tony Petros, president of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and an employee of LSA Associates. He persuaded LSA’s paleontologist, Steve Conkling, to do the work for free. Water district officials accepted the offer last week.
