Winning Season for Washington

Washington beat Oregon State, 50-40, Saturday night in a Pacific 10 Conference game at Seattle to guarantee its first winning season since 1987. The Huskies, 14-6 overall and 7-4 in the Pacific 10, had lost, 63-55, to the Beavers (3-17, 1-10) on Jan. 22.
Center Todd McCulloch had four layups during a 13-3 Washington run that broke a tie midway in the second. The Huskies had a 17-1 advantage in free throws made and held the Beavers to their lowest point total since 1985.
Washington State 70, Oregon 65--The Cougars (11-8, 4-7) made 10 of 22 three-point attempts at Pullman, Wash., with Donminic Ellison’s long-range shot with 1:11 left providing the decisive points against the Ducks (11-11, 4-7).
It was the third victory in a row for Washington State, which made only 11 of 28 two-point shots.
