Public Entitled to Better Leadership

In a sidebar to the story “United Front Key to GOP Hopes for a New Era” (Feb. 4) were listed 24 Assembly-approved bills. Nineteen reduce corporate taxes, limit corporate liability, broaden employee exposure to injustices or eliminate payments to the needy. Each, I believe, further dehumanizes individuals and erodes what made this country great.
Then Dana Parsons, bless his little heart, wrote in the same issue: “Maybe our legislators can’t make things better. A lot of us accept that and don’t hold it against them. What we demand of them, though, is that they not make things worse.” What a tragedy that a statement like that should even need to be made, that all we hope for is that our representatives not make things worse.
