School Board Tables Extra Preparation Days

A move to give teachers in the Conejo Valley two extra days each year to prepare for their classes has been tabled by the school board, pending talks with the employees’ union on paid holidays.
The Conejo Unified School District had planned to vote on whether to extend the paid school year for teachers from 180 to 182 days, essentially restoring preparation days lost during earlier budget cuts.
But because the district is still negotiating with employees regarding paid holidays, which also affect the school calendar, the board on Thursday decided to postpone the vote, said Jo-Ann Yoos, assistant superintendent for personnel services.
