Saddleback in State Golf Meet

Saddleback is seeking its second consecutive championship today in the State golf tournament at Del Rio Country Club in Modesto.
The Gauchos are making their 11th appearance in the past 13 years in the 36-hole contest, which matches the top four teams from Southern and Northern California.
Under Coach Bill Cunerty, Saddleback has won four State titles since 1983.
Cypress, making its second appearance in the college’s history, College of the Desert and Long Beach are the Southern representatives.
Foothill, Modesto, San Jose and Monterey Peninsula represent Northern California.
Among those expected to contend for the individual title are Saddleback’s Lee Kinney and Cypress’ Brian Ricketts. Kinney edged Ricketts by a stroke for the Southern California title.
