Cypress City Council meeting When: Today, 7:30 p.m. Where: Council Chambers, 5275 Orange Ave. What: A public hearing will be conducted by the council concerning a five-unit condominium project planned for 5602 Sprague Ave. The council will also discuss future development of property in the Cypress Business and Professional Center Specific Plan. Newport Beach City Council meeting When: Today, 7 p.m. Where: Council Chambers, 3300 Newport Blvd. What: The City Council will consider changes in the city’s adult entertainment ordinance as well as a proposal to share costs and services of a special bankruptcy attorney with other Orange County cities. The council will also take up construction plans for Bolsa Park and a policy designed to quiet the party atmosphere in the West Newport district.
Irvine City Council meeting When: Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. Where: 1 Civic Center Plaza What: Council members will consider joining with the Irvine Ranch Water District and the Irvine Unified School District to form a joint powers authority that could lend money to the financially troubled school district if needed. The agenda item was originally scheduled for April 25, but continued to May 9. Officials with the city and the water district have expressed a willingness to help the district avoid bankruptcy in meeting bond payments due June 13. Information: (714) 724-6000
Stanton City Council meeting When: Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. Where: Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. What: The City Council will interview applicants to sit on the Stanton Planning Commission. Ten residents have applied for three openings on the five-member board. Each successful applicant will serve a four-year term. Each member of the commission is paid $50 per meeting. The commission generally meets twice a month. Information: (714) 379-9222
