BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Collins Puts Down 30 as Harvard Beats Up Calabasas, 86-56

Sophomore Jason Collins made seven dunks and scored 30 points as Harvard-Westlake High rolled to an 86-56 nonleague road victory over Calabasas Tuesday night.
The Wolverines (5-0) are ranked second in The Times’ regional poll and second in the state Division III poll.
The 6-10 Collins made 13 of 14 shots. Ben Robbins added 18 points and seven assists.
Crescenta Valley 96, San Gabriel 64--Brock Jacobsen scored 29 points and Blake Jacobson added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Falcons (6-0) in the first round of the Crescenta Valley tournament.
Poly 56, Blair 54--Jaime Cerna scored 21 points for the Parrots in another first-round game at Crescenta Valley.
Taft 92, Canoga Park 73--Colin Jamerson scored 36 points for the Toreadors in a nonleague game at Taft. Jamerson made 15 of 20 shots, including three of four from three-point range. Miles Blake added 13 points and had 12 assists.
Granada Hills 78, St. Monica 73--Ernest Quinley had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Highlanders in a nonleague game at Granada Hills.
Wilson 57, Verdugo Hills 56--Brian De Los Reyes scored 24 points as the Dons couldn’t hold a 16-point lead midway though the third quarter in a Northern Conference game at Wilson. Jerson Castillo added 17 points and seven rebounds for Verdugo Hills (0-7).
L.A. Baptist 53, St. Bonaventure 37--Kevin Aust had 14 points for the Knights in a nonleague victory at Ventura. Jo Jo Molia had 13 points for St. Bonaventure (4-3).
GIRLS
Simi Valley 64, Thousand Oaks 55--Corey Phillips and Jamie Griffin each scored 18 points for the Pioneers (8-1) in a Marmonte League opener. Tawnee Cooper added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Newport Harbor 56, Crescenta Valley 44--Amirah Leonard scored 15 points and Michelle Greco had 12 points and eight rebounds as the Falcons lost a second-round game in the Cypress tournament.
Newbury Park 77, Royal 28--Jann Thorpe had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Julie Wastell added 13 points and eight assists for the Panthers (7-1) in a Marmonte League victory.
Westlake 56, Camarillo 26--Katie Spayde scored 24 points and Megan Carmola added 19 for the Warriors (3-2) in a Marmonte League victory.
San Marcos 61, La Reina 47--Shane Anderson had 23 points and 10 rebounds for La Reina (3-4) in a nonleague game at San Marcos.
WOMEN
Pierce 60, Grossmont 59--Julie Kawamoto scored 16 points for the Brahmas (6-3) in a nonconference game at Woodland Hills.
