In other Division II quarterfinals:
Servite 15, Los Alamitos 10--Jerry Smith led the Friars with four goals and three assists. Smith got a major penalty in the third quarter and had to leave the game with Servite (21-7) ahead, 10-7. Los Alamitos then scored three goals to tie the score at 10 in the fourth quarter. Servite’s David Cramp came into the game and scored on a perimeter shot, giving the Friars an 11-10 lead.
Esperanza 15, University 9--Mike Stanley scored eight goals to lead the top-seeded Aztecs (21-7). Esperanza took a 9-5 halftime lead and scored six second-half goals to get the victory. Goalie Peter Lange had 16 saves for the Aztecs. Jay Nunez led University (19-10) with three goals. Esperanza faces Tustin on Saturday in the semifinals.
Tustin 13, La Habra 5--Jim Lowe scored four goals to lead the Tillers (18-10). Dan Ploog scored three goals for La Habra.
In a Division VI quarterfinal:
Brea-Olinda 17, Covina Charter Oaks 7--Tad Murphy scored seven goals to lead the top-seeded Wildcats. Brea-Olinda (24-4) outscored the Chargers, 10-3, in the second half on five goals by Murphy. Teammate Eric Matthews added five goals.
