VAN NUYS — A 27-year-old man who had recently moved to Panorama City was fatally wounded by gunfire as he walked to a friend’s house late Tuesday, hours before he was about to start a new job at a bakery, Los Angeles police said.
Miguel Huezo was apparently shot several times in the upper torso by a robber, Los Angeles Police Detective Stephen Fisk said.
The shooting occurred about 10:45 p.m. outside an apartment complex in the 8500 block of Cedros Avenue, police said.
Huezo, originally from El Salvador, had recently moved to the San Fernando Valley from San Francisco and “was on his way to a new job when the incident took place,” Fisk said. “Physical evidence indicates there was a struggle prior to the shooting.”
Paramedics rushed Huezo to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died shortly afterward, authorities said.
