LOS ANGELES : State 800 Number Set Up to Report Voting Fraud
- Share via
Recent reports of alleged fraudulent voter registrations in the Southland have prompted state Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren to set up a statewide 800 telephone number, hoping to help citizens report illegal voting activities.
The (800) FRAUD98 hot line will operate 24 hours a day. It will remain in use during business hours for two weeks after next Tuesday’s election.
Lungren said that with the election a week away, he hopes the hot line will act as a deterrent against people who want to tamper with the democratic process. Examples of voter fraud Lungren cited included voters who are underage, non-citizens and people registered to vote more than once.
