PENINSULA : Applicants Sought for Vacant Library Post
- Share via
Peninsula residents have until Oct. 10 to apply for a position on the Palos Verdes Library District Board of Trustees.
An applicant will be appointed to fill the seat vacated by Christopher J. Tara, who resigned because of a job transfer to the Detroit area.
Applicants must submit a resume and a letter, not to exceed one page, explaining why they want to be a library trustee. Trustees are not paid to sit on the board.
Rather than holding a special election with a possible $92,000 price tag, trustees decided Monday to appoint a new member to fill Tara’s term, which expires in November, 1995.
Trustees, who oversee the peninsula’s three libraries, were criticized earlier this year for budgeting $1.3 million to furnish the Peninsula Center Library after ordering cuts in staffing and library hours. Trustees have since moved to cut the furniture budget.
