U.S. Staging Comeback in Technology: According to a study to be released today, the Council on Competitiveness--a coalition of chief executives from business, labor and higher education--said the nation has improved dramatically in several areas regarded as critical to developing the advanced communications networks dubbed the “information superhighway.” The group issued a report in 1991 warning that America’s technology edge had eroded in one industry after another. Now, new markets and applications are helping the United States to recoup its position in electronic components, the report says.
