Nearly 1,100 residential properties were sold in August, an increase of 14.6% over the same month in 1993, the San Fernando Valley Assn. of Realtors has reported.
Of that total, single-family homes captured 972 closed escrows, for the best sales tally for the month since August, 1988, and a 16.7% increase over a year ago.
The median resale price of single-family homes that closed escrow last month was $175,000, down 10.4% from August, 1993, and 5.4% lower than the median reported this July, association statistics indicated.
A total of 8,290 properties were listed for sale on the association’s computerized Multiple Listing Services, a drop of 34.2% from a year ago when 12,594 properties were listed for sale. Of that total, 6,383 listings were single-family homes and 1,907 were condos.
