WEST COVINA : Assemblyman’s Campaign Headquarters Vandalized

The campaign headquarters of Assemblyman Paul V. Horcher (R-Diamond Bar), who is running for the state Senate, was vandalized this week, police said.

Someone apparently used pliers to open the back door of the office in West Covina between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday, said West Covina Police Cmdr. Jim Dillon.

The vandals dumped a computer off a desk and tore some artwork that was to be used for a campaign mailer, police and Horcher aides said. Nothing was stolen.

A Horcher spokesman said the computer still worked and that he had another copy of the artwork so the campaign would not be affected.

Horcher is one of seven candidates running in a Sept. 13 special election for the Senate’s 29th District seat. The district was represented by former Sen. Frank Hill, who resigned July 8 after a federal jury found him guilty of extortion, money laundering and conspiracy.
