IRVINE — PepsiCo Inc. is closing its corporate office here, laying off six workers and reassigning the rest to other locations in Orange and Los Angeles counties, a spokesman for the company said Friday.
Two professional and four clerical workers were laid off. The remaining 31 employees were divided among offices in Buena Park, Aliso Viejo and Torrance. PepsiCo has maintained offices in the Citicorp Building in Irvine for about seven years, spokesman Jeff Brown said.
“It has nothing to do with Orange County or California or the economy,” he said. “Pepsi has had some cutbacks nationwide but we are still very bullish on California.”
