“Vigil at the Crossroads,” a performance piece scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Sycamore Hills area of Laguna Canyon Road, will protest the San Joaquin Hills toll road project, for which part of the canyon has been bulldozed by the Transportation Corridor Agency. One hundred white crosses will be placed alongside the road by participants dressed in black to symbolize, according to a press release, false assumptions that have permitted the agency to “metaphorically bulldoze through local and federal protective legislation.” An open casket bearing an American flag also will be part of the piece, questioning “whether a democratic process can prevail in Orange County.” (714) 497-9126.
