Man Who Alerted Police Held in Fatal Shooting of Woman

STANTON — Police found a mortally wounded 21-year-old woman who had been shot in a car Friday in front of her home in the 7000 block of Orangewood Avenue.
The woman, who has not been identified by Orange County sheriff’s deputies, was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said they received a 911 call about 3 p.m. from a man who told them a woman had been shot. At the scene, police recovered a handgun in her 1991 Toyota, and arrested a 34-year-old Garden Grove man who identified himself as the caller. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the County Jail.
Lt. Thomas L. Garner said the incident did not appear to be gang-related.
