It’s a Wonderful Life (TNT Sunday at 10:15 a.m., Monday at 6 p.m.) It’s time again for Frank Capra’s definitive 1946 Christmas classic in which James Stewart, a struggling, small-town businessman, magically gets to see what would have happened to his friends and relatives had he never been born.
Rachel River (Showtime Sunday at 12:30 p.m.) is one of the most unjustly neglected films of 1989. This understated film, directed by Sandy Smolan, reveals the resiliency of a group of people living in a small Midwestern town. Judith Guest’s adaptation of some stories by Minnesota writer Carol Bly features Pamela Reed, Viveca Lindfors, Craig T. Nelson and others at their considerable best.
The Red Shoes (Bravo Sunday at 8 p.m.), Michael Powell and Emric Pressburger’s classic 1948 ballet fantasy, stars the beautiful Moira Shearer.
