LAKE HUGHES — A husband and wife have been arrested on suspicion of killing an 83-year-old man who employed them as caretakers on his ranch, sheriff’s officials said.
Although Lawrence Kuhn’s body has not been found, James Keck, 71, and his wife, Linda, 46, were arrested Wednesday at the 4-K Ranch on Three Points Road in connection with his presumed death, sheriff’s spokesman Gabe Ramirez said.
They were being held without bail at the Antelope Valley sheriff’s station.
Officials declined to discuss what evidence led them to believe that the Kecks killed Kuhn or that Kuhn is dead. Although sheriff’s mounted patrols and canine units searched the 20-acre ranch most of Wednesday, Ramirez said, no body was discovered.
The Kecks reported Kuhn missing Sept. 29, Ramirez said.
Property records show that Kuhn has owned the ranch since 1953.
