Publishing Acquisition: Golden Empire Publications Inc., parent company of Computer Gaming World and Kids & Computers magazines, is being acquired by Ziff-Davis Publishing Co. in New York, the company said Tuesday.
Terms of the acquisition, expected to close within the next few weeks, were not disclosed.
Ziff-Davis is the publisher of various computer magazines, including PC Magazine, PC Week, MacUser and MacWeek.
Golden Empire’s Computer Gaming World is one of the nation’s top computer game magazines.
“Computer Gaming World has been a big fish in a little pond,” said Publisher Russell Sipe, who founded Golden Empire in 1981. “We wanted to stay big and move into a bigger pond.”
Sipe will remain with the company as a publisher for at least three years.
