A fired Long Beach police sergeant was sentenced Friday to 11 years in prison for kidnaping a San Pedro woman with the intent to rape her.
Robert Ballew, 46, was handed the maximum penalty by Long Beach Superior Court Judge Richard R. Romero. Last month, a jury convicted the 16-year police veteran of kidnaping, false imprisonment and kidnaping with the intent to rape in 1991.
