A 28-year-old woman was fatally injured when she was hit by a car as she was getting into her parked vehicle, police said Friday.
Traci M. Palombo of Laguna Beach was leaving a chili-cooking contest at the Balboa Bay Club on West Coast Highway when the accident occurred.
She was struck near the driver door of her Volkswagen about 11 p.m. Thursday, police and family members said.
Palombo died at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana at 3:30 a.m. Friday.
Police are investigating the accident and have not cited the other driver, a 36-year-old Glendale man.
Police said the man was headed east when his vehicle veered into Palombo’s car and struck her.
Investigators said they did not think that the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
