Former Nevada Las Vegas star J.R. Rider received excessive tutoring in a class he needed to remain eligible for his final college basketball season, according to a report.
But the inquiry into Rider’s academic progress concluded there was “no deliberate intent to engage in inappropriate academic practices” by Rider or the university.
Authors of the 60-page report, commissioned by the University of Nevada system, said they believed Rider did most of his work for the English 102 class he needed to remain eligible for his last season.
They conceded that poor record-keeping may keep the truth of Rider’s participation in the class from being known.
