Schools and Book Censorship
One does not have to be a right-wing religious fanatic to endorse the exclusion of certain books from the required reading list or libraries of our schoolchildren.
It is amazing to me that so few parents care what their children are being taught in school, and more amazing still, that when some parents do show an interest and try to exclude what they consider offensive to children’s moral and/or social values, they are considered Nazis, homophobic, fanatical, etc.
Remember, the main purpose for sending children to school is to teach the fundamentals of reading, writing, etc.
