The city of Long Beach has received a $75,000 grant for its program to recycle motor oil.
The grant was presented by the California Integrated Waste Management Board recently when the city celebrated implementation of its curbside recycling program. By April 1, 125,000 households had received recycling containers, said spokesman Jim Kuhl.
The city’s recycling program, which started in December, picks up newspaper, cardboard, glass, plastic, cans and motor oil.
