Four community activists will be honored April 21 at the Irvine Valley College Foundation’s sixth annual Community Awards Dinner.
The honorees, all of whom live within the cities served by the college, were chosen for their years of community service, college spokesman George McCrory said.
“All have helped their community through education,” he said.
The 1993 winners are Barbara Benson, former president of Tustin Unified School District; Karen Sauers, member of community groups and PTA in Laguna Beach; Kathryn McCullough, a Lake Forest social issues advocate, and George Lopez, chairman and chief executive officer of ICU Medical in Irvine.
Brien Manning, foundation president, said that the winners “helped others to excel and prosper through a strong educational background.”
Proceeds from the dinner, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Irvine, will benefit educational programs and activities at Irvine Valley College.
