I would like to address a few things left out of Michael D’Antonio’s “The New Generation Gap,” (March 14).
Our generation went directly from the Great Depression to World War II. We all worked long hours. We endured shortages of everything--meat, sugar, gas and electrical appliances, to name a few. The men came back from the war to an extreme housing shortage. Today’s baby boomers would be appalled at what their young parents lived in.
Yes, we did get some help from the GI Bill. My husband’s education and specialty training took 11 lean years, and the GI Bill helped for three of them. It was difficult, but we made it, and have contributed favorably to society for more than three decades.
