BELLFLOWER : Peaceful Abortion Protests Held at 2 Medical Clinics
- Share via
About 50 people on both sides of the abortion issue demonstrated peacefully Friday at two clinics in Bellflower where pregnancies are terminated, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
There were no arrests in the protests that began about 7:30 a.m. at Tri Medical Center and Heritage Medical Clinic, said spokesman Pat Hauser.
Representatives of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue and abortion rights activists demonstrated at both locations, primarily at Tri Medical Center, said sheriff’s spokesman George Ducoulombier. Two 15-deputy tactical response squads were sent to the demonstration sites. After about three hours, the groups left, Ducoulombier said.
