Praising Life for ‘Homicide’: The National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People is lobbying NBC not to cancel “Homicide: Life on the Streets,” film director Barry Levinson’s critically admired but low-rated TV drama about a Baltimore homicide division. NAACP Executive Director Benjamin L. Hooks wrote NBC Entertainment President Warren Littlefield, praising “Homicide” for its positive, realistic portrayals of African-Americans and urban life. “Homicide” ended its nine-episode run March 31 and currently ranks No. 97 out of 139 network programs.
