U.S. Debut: The political and economic unrest in Russia aside, Boris Yeltsin’s Presidential Orchestra of the Russian Federation is scheduled to make its first U.S. appearance this month: April 12 at the West Virginia University in Morgantown. A series of concerts are sponsored throughout the state during the month. Part of an exchange between the United States and Russia, the concerts are said to symbolize “a strengthening of friendship between the people of two great nations.” The orchestra, founded in 1938, was formerly known as the Moscow Kremlin Orchestra.
