PRESIDENTIAL PLUG: Talk about free advertising: During a tour of the Oval Office with Dan Rather on CBS’ “48 Hours” this week, President Clinton showed some of the books he was reading. The one he held up was “Goodnight, Irene,” the new Orange County-set book by Garden Grove native Jan Burke. “I love to read mysteries late at night,” he told Rather. . . . A flabbergasted Burke had been forewarned by friends who saw the broadcast three hours earlier on the East Coast. “It was just incredibly thrilling,” Burke says.
