‘Late Night’ News: NBC is closing in on a new “Late Night” host to replace David Letterman when he moves to CBS in June, NBC Entertainment President Warren Littlefield told national advertisers. He said that “Late Night” producer Lorne Michaels now has a list of about 20 names to pare down, and that when the new host takes over in August, the show will retain its “Late Night” title, inserting the new host’s name in place of Letterman’s. Littlefield said the interim period after Letterman’s departure could be filled by reruns of either Letterman or “Saturday Night Live,” which Michaels also produces. Former cast members of “Saturday Night Live” may be featured on the revamped “Late Night” program.
