St. Ives Laboratories’ 4th-Quarter Profit Up 22%

St. Ives Laboratories Inc., a Chatsworth maker of shampoos and other personal-care products, said its fourth-quarter profit rose 22% from a year earlier on a 29% sales gain.
In the quarter that ended Dec. 31, St. Ives’ net income climbed to $559,000 from $460,000, and its sales rose to $41 million from $31.8 million. A strong jump in St. Ives’ international sales contributed to the gains.
St. Ives’ profit for all of last year rose 11%, to $3.88 million from $3.51 million in 1991, and its annual sales were up 24%, to $149.2 million from $120 million.
